Olga’s Story
To honour our beautiful daughter and the remarkable care she received from City Hospital, my late husband Ludwig and I felt strongly that we wanted to provide specific support to the Hospital in her name. We set up an endowment to fund excellence in pediatric eye care, which was one of Connie’s weaknesses. We are very proud to fund a visiting ophthalmologist every year to come to City Hospital and provide teaching to ophthalmologists and orthoptists here in Saskatoon. We started the lecture series in 2002 and I am pleased to know the lecture series is now in its third decade.
In loving memory of our daughter, Connie.
It was my husband’s wish that the lectures carry on: he believed, as I do, that medical advances were proceeding so quickly, and we were very impressed with the learning. It feels good to know that our ophthalmologists will learn new techniques and build relationships. When Connie passed she left her own legacy with a gift in her will to the family endowment with City Hospital Foundation. And it makes me feel close to Connie and to my husband to know that, in her name, we are helping other little children. Helping others is the greatest gift.
