You helped a young mother beat breast cancer

Imagine finding a lump in your breast. Laura Orenchuk did. On Mother’s Day.

After seeing her family doctor, Laura was eventually referred to the Breast Health Centre at Saskatoon City Hospital. Opened in 2006 and expanded in 2012, the centre offers a multidisciplinary approach to treating breast health issues.

Laura and the team decided the best way to treat her cancer was a double mastectomy. There were challenges but two years later, Laura was fully recovered and an active mom and businessperson. She also used her experience to help raise funds for a new automated breast ultrasound at the centre.
